The assignment

In 2022, I joined a frog (Capgemini) squad designing a trading app for BNP Paribas. It brought together UX researchers, POs and developers.

My part was the interface: wireframes first, then UI design, screen by screen, working with the researchers on user needs and with the developers on what could be built.

For confidentiality reasons, the screens aren’t published here.

Onboarding

Set out the investment promise, reassure people about the support they will get, then lead them to open an account: five screens to build trust with someone who has never invested, without ever promising more than the product delivers.

The stock detail screen

It is the densest screen in the app. I set the information hierarchy, added a contextual “coach” layer to guide decisions, and designed every state: PEA or SRD eligibility, risk notice, help with understanding.

The goal: a first-time investor and a seasoned one both find what they need, on the same screen.

Anatomy of the stock detail screen

  1. The essentials firstThe stock’s name, price and change, readable at a glance.
  2. The chartHow the price has moved, to place the stock in time.
  3. The “coach” layerA contextual explanation where a beginner needs it, which a seasoned investor can skip.
  4. EligibilityPEA or SRD: a clear state for every stock.
  5. The risk noticeVisible before the decision, not hidden behind a link.
  6. The actionPlacing an order comes last, once the information has been read.

What came next

The assignment was short: the client stopped the project along the way. Right after, I joined Hocoia as its first employee, to design a product end to end.
